TAG UWF presents Altered: Experimental Photography, a national exhibition featuring the work of twenty-one artists and juried by international artist Tomiko Jones. The opening reception and Juror’s talk takes place on Thursday, January 7, 2010 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. in The Art Gallery on UWF’s campus in Building 82.
Altered delves into the experimental realm of photography. As such, the artworks in the exhibition combine photography with various media, and experiment with process and inventive methods of shooting. The title, “Altered” can have many associations, but most literally it refers to the process of changing and modifying photographic methods in an experimental fashion. It can also refer to an “altered” state of mind or mode of experience facilitated by photography or art in general.
The juror, Tomiko Jones, is an international artist who recently finished an artist-in-residency program with the Camargo Foundation in Cassis, France. She received her Master of Fine Arts Degree from the University of Arizona, Tucson. She has exhibited in Japan, France, Mexico and Seattle, Washington.
